US stock index futures slumped and investors waited for congressional election r

      U.S. stock index futures fell slightly early Wednesday, while Asian stocks remained in a narrow range as investors waited for the mid-term election results in the U.S. Congress. Republicans may lose control of Congress this time.
E- Mini S & P 500 index futures fell 0.25%. The mid-term election will test the fate of Trump's policy in Parliament.
MSCI index of the Asia Pacific region (except Japan) was initially flat, and the Japanese stock market Nikkei index.N225 rose 0.2%.
The turnout in this election is likely to hit the highest in 50 years of mid-term elections.
Opposition Democrats are expected to take the 23 seats they need in the House of Representatives to get more than half of the seats, but the chances of taking control of the Senate are low.

"Like many other market participants, we expect Democrats to take control of the House of Representatives, leading to a stalemate in Congress, which may mean that Trump is unable to push for more tax reforms and may lead to the market turning into a safe haven model," said Masahiro Ichikawa, senior strategist in Sumitomo Mitsui's asset management.
"But the market may have digested this possibility, so I think any further sell-off in the stock market will be limited," he said.
Many investors also expect Trump to continue to take a tough stance on tariffs. Trump can implement tariff measures without congressional approval. This worries the trade war between China and the United States.
